About VEX IQ Team 80516, the Tigerhawks

Bethany

Bethany is in her 3rd year of VEX IQ, and is in 6th grade. She’s in charge of the team’s engineering notebook, and is also the team’s programmer. When not building & programming robots, she reads, rides her bike, and plays viola & Minecraft.

Dillon

Dillon is in 6th grade, and this is his second year of VEX IQ. He spends a lot of his non-robotics time playing All-Stars baseball.

Dylan

Dylan is in 6th grade, and this is his second year of VEX IQ. Outside of robotics, he plays violin and participates in karate.

Hannah

Hannah is in 6th grade. This is her third year of VEX IQ. She’s coordinating and notebooking the team’s STEM project.

Maia

Maia is in 4th grade, and this is her second year of VEX IQ. She’s the team SnapCAD modeler.

Parker

Parker is in his 3rd year of VEX IQ, and is in 7th grade. He comes up with new and efficient driving strategies, and led the scriptwriting effort for this year’s STEM presentation. When not driving VEX IQ, he plays baseball and violin.

Coach Doug

Coach Doug is an Electrical Engineer, and runs the consulting firm Coal Creek Technologies, LLC. He’s the team’s head coach, attends regular team practices, and teaches the team new concepts in design and programming. When he’s not working or playing with robots, he spends as much time as possible on his road and cross bikes.

Coach Paul

Coach Paul is a Software Engineer, and runs the consulting firm Code Monkey, LLC. He attends regular team practices, and teaches the team new concepts in design and programming. Two of his other passions are making gourmet chocolates and writing novels.

Coach Michelle

Coach Michelle is a researcher, writer, designer, and editor, and runs the freelance firm Coal Creek Documentation Services. She acts as the team’s manager, and handles the administrative side of things. In her spare time, she volunteers, and when her hands aren’t busy doing something else, she’s crocheting weird things for friends and family.

Coach Mitch

Coach Mitch attends team practices when our schedule fits with the other robotics clubs he works with, and teaches the team new concepts in design and programming.
